Have items you no longer need? Wondering how to prevent them from ending up in a landfill when they could be repurposed into something useful?
Below you'll find a list of the items and materials that are accepted for recycling on Broward College's Campuses as well as information about the organizations and staff members that facilitate these programs.
* With these programs 90% of our waste can be turned into materials we can use again!
Commingled Recyclables
Looking for a place to toss your commingled recyclables?

Recycle these in Broward College blue bins:

  • metal cans
  • plastic cups and bottles
  • glass bottles and jars
  • cardboard
  • paper

Recycle these elsewhere:

  • plastic bags (drop off at Publix)
  • electronics (drop off at Broward County sites)
  • rechargeable batteries (Home Depot or Lowes)
  • CFL and fluorescent bulbs (Home Depot or Lowes)
Your gently used eyewear could make a world of difference to someone in need. Clear vision can enable a child to learn in school or help an adult maintain a job and support their family.
Clean out your drawers of outdated or unneeded prescription glasses and sunwear! Collectively, Broward College has already donated over 1,000 pairs of glasses to OneSight which regenerates and distributes them to give clear vision to people in this country and around the world who would otherwise not have access to vision care.
Drop off or send your glasses via pony to:
International Education
Willis Holcombe Center, Bldg. 31, Rm. 302
Shoes, Boots and Sandals
Join Broward College and Shoes for the Cure in donating extra pairs of shoes you have lying around to benefit the environment. Shoes donated will be professionally recycled using eco-friendly processes & repurposed into new shoes for the needy or surface materials for tracks, courts and playgrounds.
Drop them off at Student Life on our Downtown Campus, Building 33 Room 111, during the following hours:
Monday - Thursday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Fridays: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Staff can send work orders to Campus Facilities listing the objects, and stating “pick up for recycling”.

Students can recycle their electronics locally by dropping off items with ARC Electronics Recycling Services.
