Broward College’s Student Life departments will host Florida gubernatorial debate watch parties at the College’s various campuses on Wednesday, October 15. The events will bring together students, staff and faculty members — as well as members of the general public — to watch and discuss the debate, which will be held at the College’s A. Hugh Adams Central Campus, 3501 S.W. Davie Road, Davie. Florida Senator Eleanor Sobel will moderate a town hall meeting about Amendment 2, the legalization of medical marijuana, on Tuesday, September 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Judson A. Samuels South Campus Performing and Cultural Arts Center, 7200 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines.
This event, which is free and open to the public, coincides with the gubernatorial debate taking place at Broward College in October, and will bring together two organizations, United for Care and Drug Free Florida, as they debate their reasons for and against the legalization of medical marijuana in the State. Moderating the 2014 Gubernatorial Debate at Broward College will be veteran broadcaster Elliott Rodriguez, anchor at CBS4 News, who will direct questions from panelists Rosemary Goudreau, editorial page editor of the Sun Sentinel, and Frank Denton, editor, The Florida Times-Union and VP for journalism, Morris Publishing Group.
A first-ever social media panel has also been named: Manny Garcia, editor of the Naples Daily News

Broward College has been selected to host the 2014 Florida Gubernatorial Debate this fall with Leadership Florida and the Florida Press Association. The debate will take place on the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014 in Davie.
